Passionate Brazilian artist Andre Brandao shared his incredible “Satellite” series with Miami’s elite at the new, exquisite So5 project at “Art & Fashion for the Cause”, to benefit The Breast Cancer Network of Strength. In attendance were some of the “whose-who” of Miami, including Sidly Cevera and Cindy Taylor formerly of E! who was noted saying “This is great!”.
While the art-loving guests took immense pleasure in viewing Andre’s work, the fashion forward crowd enjoyed Lee Dahlberg’s trendy ROCKBAND wrist accessories and HUES Bracelets that are quickly becoming “must haves” for the modish sect of Miami. “It’s amazing, I expect that from br-pr and Miami Fashion Association” raved Nicolas Ramirez of Level Magazine.
The chic designs were showcased in addition to items featured in a silent auction in which some of the proceeds were donated to The Breast Cancer Network of Strength. Participants in the auction include Charlie Lapson, Equinox Fitness Club, Sandy Wallin Collectable, Spa 101, and London West Hollywood Hotel. Guests were offered beverages from Select Vodka and Atlantico Rum while being served the delectable treats of Misha’s Cupcakes.
Andre Brandao is a passionate artist that lives to create. His vibrant, alive, emotional canvases engage the senses. Color and composition come together in an exalted marriage of light and form. He is committed to sharing his life’s journey through his art.
The Breast Cancer Network of Strength provides immediate emotional relief to anyone affected by breast cancer through the YourShoes 24/7 breast cancer support center, which includes the country’s only toll-free breast cancer hotline staffed entirely by breast cancer survivors. Special thanks to Logan Fazio, Eric Cortes, Chris Hundall, Seth Karafin, Sildy Cevera, Josh Lekach without whom this would not have been possible.

We’re going to see Star Trek again tonight! Even though I’ve never been a Trekkie, the movie was non-stop action and entertainment. JJ Abrams and crew have done an amazing job getting Gen-Ys into the hype.
I’m doing a little bit of research on the overall Star Trek marketing campaign. Whereas the campaign didn’t cause the amount of mass hysteria that Cloverfield generated, I’ve seen some cool stuff out there!

I’ve just launched into the formidable task of finding a new marketing job in this economic climate. However, I’m quite optimistic for the future and look forward to launching a vigorous job search campaign. There’s a great blog post written last year on job search in the recession. It’s written by Robert Scoble, an American blogger, technical evangelist, and author.
Thus far, I’ve gathered two vital (yet deceptively simple) concepts regarding job search. First, those who work the hardest will find jobs much faster than those who wallow in post-layoff-company-downsizing-mode. For me, that means my immediate “job” is to find a job and I must be working at it from 10am-6pm+ just as I would in my previous employment.
Second, I’ve gathered that job searching truly is a numbers game. Not in the sense of those applicants who blind carbon copy 50 potential employers from MonsterJobs. This tactic won’t work and could do more harm than good because employers often remember bad/incorrect applications. (I received some really bad apps when I was with Gen Art) Rather, I mean the more valuabe, thoughtfully created job applications I’ve sent, the better my chances at landing my next marketing job. Also, the more marketing/industry professionals I meet and create great connections with, the better my prospects will become.
I have my work cut out for me! My vigorous job search plan of action is as follows:
Online Job Search:
- Closely follow online sources including American Marketing Association/Public Relations Society job boards, MonsterJobs/Careerbuilder, Media Bistro, Jax Jobs, Newspaper Listings, and Craigslist\
- Check websites of top prospective employers for HR listing/job announcements
Social Networking:
- Staying super-connected with my friends and colleagues on A Small World, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Myspace. Udating friends on my job search and seeking if they could help me or if I could help them
Physical Networking:
Setting Up Informational Interviews:
- Goal of setting up 3-4 informational interviews in Jacksonville next week to learn about prospective companies, introduce myself, and get on their radar
Andre Rand Brand Building:
- Compiling strong portfolio to present during job interviews. Continued, daily work & great marketing posts on my blog. Keeping social networks updated and fresh.
Remaining On-Track with Long Term Goals:
- Keeping up with fitness regimen, daily French study, keeping up my saxophone & piano “chops”
- Further locking in my goal of gaining acceptance into one of the world’s top business schools for my Masters in Business Administration
- If neccessary, taking a short term part-time job to cover expenses while I execute my job search campaign

It’s official. I’m in full-on job search mode. Last week, I moved back home to Jacksonville from Miami Beach to stabalize and execute my plan of action to secure a strong job in the marketing industry.
My background: Most recently, I worked as Senior Public Relations Strategist for Bush-Renz Public Relations in Miami Beach. In addition, I’ve worked freelance as Miami Casting Manager for MTV/Doron Ofir Casting and produced stellar events with Gen Art including the dazzling FASHIONscape showcase at Delano in April.
Previously, I served as Regional Event Coordinator with Gen Art, the nation’s leading arts & entertainment organization which supports emerging talent through producing film premieres, fashion shows, art exhibitions, and concerts. The two years I spent with Gen Art were amazing; it was like an advanced degree in event production and entertainment marketing.
For example, in 2008 I produced 40 events including high-profile/high-budget VANGUARD Fair (Art Basel), Fresh Faces in Fashion, REVERB Music Showcase, and “Sense V” Moët Hennessy Series. I was Immersed in sales development from proposal creation through sponsor activation. Assisted Gen Art Director with scouting venues, talent, and media partners for events. Maintained budgets, timelines, and sponsor collateral.
Graduated from University of Miami with a Bachelors in Music. Major: Music Business, Minor: Marketing.
What I am looking for: My ultimate dream is to land a strong marketing job. My strengths lie in marketing, public relations, and project management. I would love to work for a leading creative firm or marketing/product giants like Pepsi, Sony, or P&G. Fingers crossed that I’ll get the opportunity to shine within one of these organizations.

One of the most widely recognized fashion boutiques of the “jet set” Curve Soleil revealed their in-store lines coming for fall/winter 09 at the beautiful Setai Water Garden. The audience was at capacity filled with the “whose who” of the Miami social roster and peppered with celebs, fashion editors and mavens that had come to view the curio and learn what all the buzz was concerning this highly anticipated store opening.
On display was a stunning collection of one of-a-kind pieces from Preen, Helmut Lang and Unconditional to name a few. With a very hard edge and a futuristic visual, the models glided down a slick black runway floating over water. “It felt like I had been transported to a different world, an alternate universe”, said Changeling actor Jeffry Donovan. The collections integrated a strong men’s showing from UK label Unconditional and offered the crowd of Miami Fashionistas a sneak peek into what is on trend in European fashion houses. “The models were hot, the clothes were nothing short of amazing, an absolutely beautiful show” said Plum TV host and fashion stylist Daniel Lombardi.
“The choices presented were a bold statement and testament that Miami is in fact ready to embrace real fashion, Curve’s arrival to Miami is important to the fashion community here and they certainly did not disappoint,” commented Inside Fashion World Media CEO Natalia Diaz. Curve owner Nevena Borissova has garnered a reputation for setting the pace among a very loyal following of some of the most high profile people with a client list that includes Jennifer Lopez, Rhianna and Nicole Richie. Borissova opened her first boutique twelve years ago on the trendy Robesrtson blvd in Los Angles followed by her Soho storefront in NYC; now the trifecta is complete with the addition of Curve, located in the Gansevoort South Hotel. Look for Curve to become the driving force of South Florida fashion for years to come.
